Hiring the wrong digital marketing agency in Dhaka can cost you 6 months and several lakhs of taka — with nothing to show for it.
The good news: the right agency can transform your business. The bad news: Dhaka has hundreds of agencies, and most will tell you exactly what you want to hear during a sales call.
These 7 questions cut through the pitch and reveal what an agency can actually deliver.
Question 1: “Can I See a Case Study from a Business Like Mine?”
Not a general case study — one from your industry, at your business size, with a similar goal. Any agency worth hiring has at least 2–3 relevant examples they can share.
What a good answer looks like: “Yes — here’s a client in [similar industry] where we ran Facebook lead generation campaigns. They were spending BDT 40,000/month on ads with a cost per lead of BDT 2,800. After 3 months we reduced CPL to BDT 890 and increased lead volume by 180%.”
Red flag answer: “We work with all types of businesses” or case studies with no specific numbers.
Question 2: “Who Will Actually Be Working on My Account?”
Many agencies in Dhaka sell you with senior strategists, then hand your account to a junior executive with 6 months of experience.
Ask specifically: who manages the day-to-day? What is their experience level? How many accounts do they manage simultaneously? (Anything over 8–10 accounts per person means you’re not getting adequate attention.)
Question 3: “Will I Own My Ad Accounts and Data?”
This is non-negotiable. You must own:
- Your Google Ads account
- Your Facebook Business Manager and Ad Account
- Your Google Analytics / GA4 property
- Your website and all its data
If an agency says ads run “through their account” — this is a trap. When you leave, you lose all your historical data, audiences, and conversion tracking. Start over from zero.
Question 4: “How Do You Report Results and How Often?”
A professional agency sends you a detailed monthly report showing: spend, impressions, clicks, leads/sales, cost per result, ROAS, and month-over-month trends. They also have a dashboard you can check anytime.
Red flag: “We’ll send updates as things happen” or reports that only show vanity metrics like page likes and impressions — with no mention of revenue or leads.
Question 5: “What Happens in the First 30 Days?”
A serious agency has a structured onboarding process. They should be able to tell you exactly what happens week by week in the first month:
- Week 1: Audit, account access, competitive research
- Week 2: Strategy document, campaign structure, creative brief
- Week 3: Campaign build, tracking setup, approval
- Week 4: Launch, initial monitoring, first performance snapshot
If they can’t explain this, they don’t have a process — they’re making it up as they go.
Question 6: “What Results Can I Realistically Expect in 90 Days?”
Pay attention to how they answer this. Honest agencies give you a range based on your budget and industry benchmarks. They also tell you what success looks like at 30, 60, and 90 days — because results build progressively.
Dishonest agencies guarantee specific outcomes (“we guarantee 500 leads in 30 days”) without knowing your conversion rate, offer strength, or market competition. Walk away.
Question 7: “What Are Your Contract Terms and Exit Conditions?”
Reputable agencies work on rolling monthly agreements or 3–6 month contracts with clear exit clauses. Be cautious of:
- 12-month lock-ins with large penalties
- Contracts that give the agency ownership of your creative assets
- Vague deliverables (“we’ll do social media”) with no specifics
The One Thing That Tells You Everything
Ask: “Can we start with a paid audit before committing to a retainer?”
A confident agency says yes. They know their audit will demonstrate enough value to earn the relationship. A desperate agency pushes you to sign a long retainer immediately.
